Started my E30 M3 (re)build

When my M3 was originally purchased it was a JS car. I'm rebuilding it to focus more on NASA GTS racing so I'm redoing most of the car with exception to engine work. I'm starting the major teardown today, probably right after this post, in an effort to get it ready for the new cage as soon as possible. Cage to be done by Mark McMahan of course.

Currently I've removed a bunch of easy weight (and some no so easy) to get the car down to just under 2400lbs w/out driver and with 1/2+ of fuel. Admittedly I have invested in some lightweight panels. An MAShaw CF hood which dropped 22lbs off the front of the car. I picked up FG decklid and rear wing for cheap which allowed me to drop another 30ish (have to check notes on that).

Anyway, for the time being I've started a CarDomain blog until I can get my own page running for this. Hopefully it's ok to post this here so feel free to check it out if interested. I'll be trying to update it as often as possibly based partly on when I can work on it.

What size tires were on the 15"s and did they rub? My father has an 88 henna that he dosent drive and ive been bugging him to autocross it.

The tires on there now are just the rains, they are 205/50's, Hoosier Wet's. Just for moving it around. I normally run the Kosei 15x8's with 225/45 Hoosiers. I am switching to something else for this season but not sure what yet. I am sticking with 15's and have a brake kit coming in the next couple weeks to test fit. My motor will remain mostly stock so there's no point to running 17's.

Cool! Which GTS class are you planning to run in? My car is a BMW CCA KP car but my goal is to race it in NASA's GTS2 class this year as my rookie season.

Well, right now with the right set up and I can go back and forth between GTS2 and GTS3 but I will have to decide which class I want to be most competitive in. If I choose GTS2 I will be compromising for GTS3. If I choose GTS2 it'll be more work to run in GTS2 on occasion. Right now I'm still waivering.

I did get a small bit of car pr0n in the other day though. However I think I'm going to sell this pedal kit and get the 3 pedal floor mount kit. We're building another car at the same time (also an E30 M3 but with a different engine) and that car will utilize the 3 pedal floor kit. Easier to make 2 of the same mounting schemes vs 2 different. Plus then I can dump the crappy stock throttle pedal.
