1" Wheel spacers.....

What are options for a 1" wheel spacer? I'd like something that bolts down and then has it's own studs....Kind of like an adapter only not....
This would be in the front to run readily available wide wheels in the wrong offset.

In the rear I'm going to add IX drive hubs, since one of mine is bent, and they widen the car 1". So I 'might' need a 1/2" spacer in the rear also. Maybe not though. Without spacers I'd be looking at the equivalent of 5.5" backspacing...

if I recall 5" or perhaps it was 5.5" was perfect for big rubber (275/285).
1" is ~25mm which H&R does make readily made spacers for. (e.g. http://www.bmpdesign.com/product-exe...earch_model/32 )
That and a set of studs should be good.

I just don't like the idea of a 1" spacer, and longer studs and that's it. But I guess if they sell them (it's not e-bay afterall) it should be good....

For the price, I'm willing to give up 1" of width and go with 15x9's. 275/35/15's.

FK makes 25mm spacers that have the spacer-bolts-to-hub-using-supplied-hardware and wheel-bolts-to-spacer-using-stock-bolts deal.

Those are also custom made and probably weigh a ton.

Unfortunately most of use are on a budget or we'd go out and buy the custom rims needed to properly fit the car.

Longer studs and a 1" spacer would make me nervous frankly. It might work but non the less, I would be nervous. IE RX7 video from last year.

They were indeed custom made, and they were not light. But they did allow for the most cost effective way to experiment with installing 285s on an E30 auto-xer. As far as I know, I was the first to try that out (Akard and the Treehouse guys were all road racers, with waaay different turning demands).

Garrick you said your car was faster with the 285's. And they last longer. Sounds like Dick is willing to let them go cheap.......Why not pick them back up from him?

After the investment and pain in the ass he had getting those fancy 15x10s I'd be running them just for spite if nothing else now!

Anything wider than 18-20mm needs to be a bolt-on spacer. H&R sells 25mm and 30mm bolt-on spacers for BMWs, but I dunno about 4x100 bolt circle.

We won't make or recommend spacer use for more than 18mm thick for use with "just long studs". Even with a properly hubcentric spacer design its "iffy" at best.

If a super thick spacer bolts to the hub and has a new set of studs or lug bolt holes that attach to the wheel, and stays hubcentric, you can make a thiiiiick spacer for really goofy wheels (meaning: they weren't made for this car). Or you could just order custom 3-piece wheels to fit the car properly and do away with the spacer nonsense. :)
