Because welded diffs are retarded. They promote understeer, which is the opposite of drifting. A limited slip differential will allow the car to initiate a turn and then apply power to both wheels when you add throttle, which if you know what you're doing certainly sounds like a drift to me...Leave a comment:

I really don't think tearing down and rebuilding a LSD would be tough at all. And there are parts available to do some mods while your in there, most importantly changing the ramp angles.......Fuck welding the diff.Leave a comment:

drift boner kids with their 240s and corollas weld their diffs because finding a factory clutch-type LSD in good condition is like finding a unicorn
we are lucky that clutch-type LSDs are so common in our cars, it makes them so much cheaper, and they work well enough for the beginner.
I would love to eventually switch to a 2-way LSD though.Leave a comment:
