    Team Mustache Ride :)

Its no surprise E30s did so well. They can be found cheap, and compared to a vast majority of other $500 cars, they do great on track.

Hey, we finished 5th overall (Malt Liquor Tech #40oz 325e)!!!

That was the most fun I've ever had in a car, and pretty close to the most fun I've had evar!!!!!11111111111

Our car ran on 5 cyls all day Saturday, then we did some repairs Sat night, including a "new" injector and it seemed to run a bit better for about 1/2 the day Sunday, then was losing lots of power and was running on maybe 4 cyls by the end of the race.

We were really happy with our showing, and we're looking forward to next time. They're talking about having 2 races at this track (CMP) in 2009.....if they do, I'll be at both.

Another LeMons South participant checking in. I saw references to our car (the black e30 with the dog bone and the red studded collar) in another LeMons thread.

We were back in 27th place, and we were thrilled to even finish. None of the 6 of us had ever done wheel-to-wheel racing, so passing w/o a point was a bit of an adjustment :-). Our car was really strong all weekend, and clearly had the potential to be a top 10 car if we'd have been smarter about pit strategy and would have stayed away from the black flag penalties on Saturday.

Honestly, my feeling is similar to Bret's - it's probably the most fun I've ever had in a car. There's something liberating about driving a car that you honestly don't have to worry about. My only concern for the weekend was that every team member got some good time behind the wheel.

After we figured out our overheating problem on the practice day, the car ran just about flawlessly all weekend. We developed a miss on Sunday, but it was fairly easy to drive around. I just ended up short-shifting to 4th gear at about 4K to avoid the miss. I figure a spark plug wire will do the trick and the car will be back to 100%. We'll definitely enter the car again in at least 1 LeMons event at CMP in '09, no question.

...and now for the shameless plug for the team website - http://www.doriftodogs.com.

Ok were back for the Sept event. just need to adjust the exhaust system for the new rules.

Also took 3 months to fix the car from the last race. I now am an expert in Fuel lines. Gas tank removal and the fuel system.

Bam, we welded up an oil cooler guard similar to yours and it worked great. Came in 9th place. Thanks for all your help and advice!
