MA Shaw lexan windows

Who here has the lexan side windows from MA Shaw?
I am thinking about getting a set for my M3 and was wondering what you guys think of them. How much do they weigh compared to stock? How do they mount? How's the quality?

I have some. MA Shaw gets them from percyshp.com.

They aer good quality, but aren't the easiest to install.

You can get Percy's from Summit and Jegs. I ordered side windows from Ma Shaw and he sent me a single universal sheet with hand written scribbles on how to cut. Problem was 2 windows could not be made from the part he sent. We were not able to resolve my issue so I ended up buying a second identical sheet from Summit, and it was cheaper to boot.

I made a bunch of "L" clips and installation wasn't too bad. I'll snap some pics tomorrow when I am working on my car.

why do you want them? unless you are looking for the last few ounces to reduce weight for racing purposes, no, I wouldn't recommend them.

Agree with Bob- you can get 2 rear quarter windows from one sheet of lexan that Percy's sells.

Hmm, I was under the impression that these pieces sold by MA Shaw were already cut out and had all the necessary parts to install. I didn't realize they just sent you a sheet of lexan to make your own.

How much did the sheet cost from Summit?

jsut because it is a track car doesn't mean you want to save every extra pound. Rules and weight limits are determining factors as to what you can do. Still wouldn't recommend them....we are talking a couple pounds at most.

If people realized that their cars wouldn't be so damn heavy...........

1 lb isn't a big deal? How about 15 things that are only a lb?

I understand your point. I am slowly building this car up to C-Mod specs, so unless I'm mistaken, there is no weight limit.

The main reason I wanted to do the windows now instead of waiting until later is that I am about to build my roll cage, and the main hoop is going to be tied in closely to the B-pillar, and since the rear windows bolt up to the B-pillar, I wanted to replace them before it is hard to access those bolts.

A 24"x52" molded piece is $145. Not cheap for sure since you need 2, but lbs are lbs...

They have a flat piece that is 32" x 72" for $180 that would let you get both windows out of one piece. There really isn't much curve in those rear windows and you could create the bend with your clip placement. I bet the flat piece would work fine.

The material is pretty flexable. I think it would bend to mimic the curve of the glass just fine.

Mike @ MAshaw insisted that 2 pieces could be made from a single sheet so I think I just got the wrong part from Percy's. I was just frustrated that I couldn't get the situation resolved with Mike. I'd verify the dimensions of the sheet with him if you do go that route.

Here is a quick pix of how I did mine. Not the best pix but you can hopefully get the idea. "L" clips around 3 sides and nut-zerts in the B pillar.

(My Passenger door is a little warped but the drivers door sits pretty flush with the lexan.)

I got some black paint made for lexan to do a blackout strip around the edge. That will hide the b-pillar and all the clips nicely. Summit sells that too btw.

When I ordered, I ordered 2 sheets...one for each window. When I installed it, it didn't lay flush is a had to cut a vertical piece to realign them. Because of that I will have to redo that window. I installed an L bracket to the bottom of the window opening and used the other flat piece that are there (B pillar and the inside trim) and riveted in there. Was my 2nd attempt at putting lexan in there. Those rear quarters are a royal PITA.
