The Lone Star Chapter of the BMW CCA is pleased to announce that registration for our DE and Club Race at the new 2.5 mile Eagles Canyon Raceway in Slidell, Texas on October 18 and 19th is now open! For those of you that don't know, Eagles Canyon is new track about 45 minutes north of Fort Worth. Contrary to popular belief, this track proves that Texas is NOT flat. There is about 100 feet of elevation changes on this track (and it is not all located in one section). This track goes up and down and up and down...hopefully you don't get car sick easy! There has been a limited number DEs and a handful of races at the track since it opened last year so you can be among the first to enjoy this awesome new facility. I was so impressed by the facility I became a member. This place is one of those places that looks "ho-hum" if you look at the track map, but it is anything from being "ho-hum"- you have to experience to understand, and you can do that on October 18-19.
The DE fee is $275 and includes and event T-shirt so generously provided by our sponsor Classic BMW. Thanks to Classic BMW for stepping up to plate once again to help us put on these events. Every event Classic seems to find something new to offer. Did you know that Classic was mounting and balancing tires for FREE at our event in the Spring? Neither did I! Rumor has it they will be doing it again for this event.
All you KC and Sunbelt guys and gals that were out at Hallet last weekend and are looking for another DE to do before next year, come on down! We'd love to have you. The drive isn't that bad.
For all you club racers....I have heard that a certain blue and yellow BMW race team that is located somewhere in the middle Atlantic area (not to be confused with the blue and yellow BMW race team from the New England area) is trying to come down for this event! Come out to congratulate them on their recent win at a certain Midwest track a few weeks ago. I am not making any promises that they will be here, but the last I heard they are planning on it at this time.
NOTE: Eagles Canyon is a very brake intensive track. We recommend that you have adequate brake pad and rotor life (and then a bit more for good measure). And remember, your tech inspection requires a brake flush with in 6 months of this event. Any car not deemed safe will not be allowed on track.
DE Registration is at MotorsportReg
Club Race Registration will be open any day now at the BMW CCA Club Racing website.
