    Autocrossing the track rat

I bought a 1989 325is primarily to use as a track rat to get some experience in a rear-wheel drive car (I've been tracking a MINI for the last 4 years since I started). My original plan was to follow the Spec E30 rules as a guide for any mods so I could eventually sell the car to someone who might want to race it. Lately I've been thinking of building it out as an STX autocross car instead.

What's the recommended suspension for an E30 in STX? Should I just stick with the Spec E30 requirements for springs/shocks/camber plates/sway bars or is that overkill?

I was planning on using Kosei K1 wheels (16x7.5 rims w/215-45R16 RT615s) from the MINI.

    Recommendations?

    Just do spece30 stuff.

You aren't competing competitively enough to actually want to win right?

You're just doing this for fun?

And to answer the previous question, competitive--yes, but suspension budget total for this year is about $1500.

I run pretty good times out here on basically a spec e30 set up.

H&R Race, Bil sports, ST Sways, Vorschalg plates w/ 225/50-14 Hoosier A3S05.

its not a bad set up.

I'm in STX in my 318is on billy sports, GCs, cabrio front bar, and Vorshlag plates. 205/50/15 all-seasons and I can still beat almost all comers in my region. Car also has poly bushings and a strut brace and some other little stuff.

on that budget, stick to a spec e30 suspension.
