Track car: Remove parking brake system?

Do you really need a parking brake on a track car? Thinking of removing mine since my cables are fubar'd.

Just leave it in gear when you're parked to keep it from rolling, right?

You can also use wheel chocks if you want to keep it running when you're not on perfectly flat ground.

On a pure track car the parking brake isn't essential. It can be nice to have on occasion, but it will see little use.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Cool. I thought so. Simplify things/avoid potential problems when/where I can.

        Out it comes....

I personally like having it there as a just in case something goes wrong with the braking system on the car, although if you take care of the car at all there is no reason for that to happen.

                Remove it.

We also did, but then it would have been a PITA to keep it with the E46 M3 rear discs.

mine's gone and I don't miss it. Except for the 2 times a year I park on a hill and want to leave it running while I get out. It is a track car though, so those times are not very often.

I'll be the oddball. My parking brake is still in. It's useful. The weight's in an ok place and you never know when you might need to pull the E brake to make a bootlegger's turn <g>.

On my E30 PRO-3 race car it is left in. We set it whenever the car is on a trailer for transportation (even thought the car is primarily tied down with straps). I find it handy.

Yea, I can see it being handy when dealing with a trailer.

To those guys that have removed it, so you just cut out the sleeves from the bottom of the car? Looks like the cables run through sleeves. If there is an easy way to remove these, let me know.
