Captchas are too easy. Require new users to enter the chassis code for the 3-series produced from 1982-1994. I'm guessing that 75% of the spammers won't bother to Google it.

Threads, no to a point, but it's pretty obvious what threads are spam. But post in a thread, then YES!

I'll stop reporting spam threads then. I was just tying to help out.

All the mods delete at least 10 threads a day.

I think you misunderstood. Jason was just saying that it's relatively easy to spot spam threads, however spam posts in legitimate threads are much harder to detect.

I'm not mad. It's all cool. There's no point in me loading up there report box if it's not helpful. I beleave this forum has the hardest working Mods of any forum I've seen. Lol.

There's a good 7 spam threads on the main forum right now.

How about a new capture method? The current one doesn't seem to work that well!

The spammers are actual people, not robots (as far as I know). Which is why I'm saying we should ask a question that people outside of this community and/or geographic area are less likely to know the answer to.

They might be able to google it but it would be more work for people who just want to register real quick to paste in their garbage about kitchens.

"Which engine came in the E30 325i?" + captcha is more of a deterrent than the captcha alone.

Something like that would work for members of the forum, but how about someone who just bought an e30 and wants to join the community? They're not going to know its powered by an m20 or what the chassis code is nessicarily.

If there was an easy way to prevent them from posting, we would have done it.
