We already have these people in place. And the flag button just fills our personal email with links to Spam that's been deleted by the time we check our email.

Is there some sort of time table we should be reporting spam on? Say if it's more than a week old, buried in a thread or otherwise unnoticed?

If so, is there something we can put in the flag report or other method that makes it easier on mods so they don't have to deal with insta spam reports?

I'd just keep reporting them as usual. It's just for me and some of the other mods when we do check our email. They are all dead links, by the time we see them in the email vs logging on here and seeing them as we browse. But that don't mean that for the others they do check them and find one once and a while.

Again to clarify, it's not necessary to report the topics which are obviously spam. We catch 99% of those when we do our purges, which happen several times throughout the day. Reporting individual spam posts which are replies to real topics is helpful.

Since v 3.8.9 is almost 3 years old there possibly needs to be a better way to weed the spammers out.. It seems that captcha, tand he Q&A methods is worthless these days, and easily broken by bots.

Yes. It's been a few years, but based on my last experience with v5.x it completely changes the look and feel of the forum, and not in a good way. James put up test sites with v5 and then v4, though they are no longer online. Discussion of that here.
