    Techincal FAQ and DIY Cleanup

My understanding is that the technical FAQ and DIY forum are for informational posts for DIY projects or FAQs. It seems there are alot of General Tech questions and mutiple threads on the same subject.

This forum needs to be cleaned up and possibly made into an approval only area where threads must be approved and moved by an admin before they are placed in that forum. Too many newbs are using it as a General Q&A forum instead of searching.

I'll take care of that. I apologize for not keeping it cleaned up. I have been uber busy lately. Blame Crivey.

Any serious consideration for thread approval prior to having threads posted in that particular forum. It seems to work very well for e30tech.

            That's not the idea.

On e30tech if you want your thread in the FAQ/DIG "Stickied" forum it has to be moved from another forum (ie. General Tech) by a moderator. If a thread is worthy of a sticky you can usually request it in the thread or other users posting can nominate it.

Word. I think the FAQ/DIY section should not accept newly formed threads (except by mods). It used to be organized really well, with a lot of good info. Now it just seems like people have no idea how to post something in General Technical.

Well, some people like to make threads that are FAQs. I guess they could make it in general tech and then contact a mod.

If noobs would read the stickies that are in teh FAQ DIY section they would be fine. I wouldn't mind locking the forum to new threads but allowing replys if possible.

Locking it to new threads but allowing replies sounds like a good game plan.
