Photo varification during search

Just lately, when I try to do an "advanced search" while I'm not logged in, I'm asked to varify a bunch of numbers/letters in a little pic in order to perform the search.
Is there a reason for this? It gets kind of annoying while searching for things.

It's so there are less spammers/robots/others searching the forums.

Sorry that this is annoying you. We did it mainly due to search robots that constantly peg my database with random search requests that make no sense whatsoever.

Its a small price we gotta pay to keep the site fast and keep my wallet somewhat full of money. Either login or except the fact that you will be prompted for image verification from time to time.
