    a little clean up

I would like to suggest that the moderators do a little clean up in the department of memberships. I think that this forum is a huge asset to the E30 community and I think everyone that is here should be either striving to learn or here to teach and advise. There are members in the members list that don't or haven't posted here in over 6 months. I'm not asking everyone here to post 5 times daily I'm just pointing out the fact that we are all here to share knowledge and gain it.

There are members that haven't payed once. I think that we can't even give a rough estimate of how many active members we have. Yeah we have like 10k names in the members list but how many are actually active? I am probably the only one that cares really but I just think there should be a cut off date for membership here. I mean what happens when you don't use an account somewhere for longer than a year? They'll delete your account.

Take a scroll through the members list and look at all the members with 1 or 0 posts in the last year or longer.

    Just an observation

      I would agree but...

I am a member on about 13 forums, but only active on 2 or 3 of them. The others I joined to lurk, learn, read. I do agree with the log in thing though.

Honestly I wouldn't give them that long. 6 months at the most. I mean if you are a "lurker" you would at least log in once a month to check PMs or to send someone a PM. It makes sense to think that people that are into E30s won't be like myself and others and log in multiple times daily or at least daily. I can understand if others check like once or twice a week but seriously they will at least long in once a month. That's the most logical way to think about it.

        Thanks for the post SpecM!!

I'd say no. Not everyone is a forum type of person. I've even seen people post for their first time after they joined 3+ years ago. I'm not on very many forums, Other then here i only go to an S10 forum and F-body forum. For the longest time after i sold my f-body i didn't even go on to the fbody forum. Now that i got another one, it's nice to see that my profile was there to go back to. And the same when i was into FWD TurboDodges. I got out of them about two years ago. But i had to get something for my sisters car. After two years of not posting anything, my profile was still there for me to post under.

Most forums have an immediate activation. If by chance you don't sign on for two years as mentioned, its a whopping 5 minute sign up that your should already be familiar with. And besides, if you were to not go on for 2 years and you wanted to know something for a buddy or something, the ever so popular search bar is always there.

Problem with that is, if I need to re-sign up, I am immediately a newb again.

I can see your point, but I guess I just don't understand why it matters. We have an amazing server, so it's not like we are needing that space for anything. No use spending the time and effort doing all of that work in the outside chance that it does piss someone off by deleting their account. There is no use in cleaning it out, so why do it?

Yeah, it really doesn't matter. I'm a member on a Ford forum just because I have had a couple questions about my truck over the two years that I've had it. I shouldn't have to re-register simply because I don't go there often.

But seriously, no one ranks the forums by member count, so who gives a shit?

The moderators have enough to do like continually banning idiots like your friend Jeremiel.

Most of my frustration comes from the fact that if I want to find someone with a name that's starts with let's say "E" I have to scroll through 15 pages to find one person because there are 40 "members" who's username starts with an E that haven't logged in in over a year.

Once I find them, its all gravy but its is frustrating for me.
