listen to us man. Take a breath and thoroughly think it thru on what you want on your car.
Bimmerfest isn't that big of a deal .
our e30s are more important than the plastic BMW convention .
My options as of now:
- Rebuild current engine (resurfacing the head, new headgasket, and fixing whatever else broke)
- Just put in a new headgasket, bolt shit down, get through the summer, then m50 or s50 swap.
- Take the current engine out, sell it, save for a proper m50 or s50 swap, and bike everywhere or get rides to and from work.
- Take out a loan and m50 swap now, although I hate being in debt.
- Buy a low mileage m20 from a friend and swap that in if the damage is too much on my current engine.
I would love to have my car operational before Bimmerfest. Eventually I want to 24v swap, 5 speed swap, get an OEM (mtech) body kit, get a new paint job on my car, keep it bronzit (haterz gonna hate), probably add a roll cage, and then fix the miscellaneous stuff that's wrong with my car.
All of this costs money of course.
TLDR version: I want to 24v swap in the future.Last edited by turge; 04-29-2012, 02:07 AM.

I think youre making this more complicated than it should be.
Pull the head, get it checked for flatness and pressure tested at the least, then put in fresh bolts and gasket.
Enjoy bimmerfest.
Hold off on 5 speed until motor swap.
Time and money is obviously a constraint. this has the least turn around time and is the least expensive IMO.
I wouldn't want to rush into a swap like that if I was you. I would take proper amount of time to do necessary research and collect the right parts over time to get it done right than trying to rush it in time for a yearly car meet.
