At least you get an i motor, though.

              True...

Any advice on the swap? I wanted to do a stroker but everyone said no haha Looking back now, it would take some time and money I don't have... Just need the motor in for now

What kind of advice do you need? Tools? Procedure? Etc.?
If you've never done it before, you'll probably figure out the right questions to ask once you start taking things apart.

Well the head is just about off and I was wondering what else is holding the motor down. I know the transmissions will need to be disconnected at some point but should we leave it in or take it out too?

Take it out with the engine. Should get a load leveler for this and protect the A/C radiator if you're not taking it out, too. Engine+trans are only attached to the chassis by 2 tranny mounts and 2 engine mounts.

Need to disconnect anything else in the engine bay, which at this point is barely anything (ground strap for one, expansion tank for another). You can leave the A/C compressor and PS pump tied to the car.

Disconnect the drive shaft (easier to remove the whole thing), slave cylinder, helps to detach the shift console, too, once you lower the trans.

Might want to thread the head back on so it's easier to use the cylinder head bracket to lift it. The rear lift point is on the block, luckily.

Yeah I got the radiator out to flush it but left the AC one in. Need to find a load leveler but shouldn't be a problem.

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks man! Guess I could start under the car/on the tranny this weekend then.

Are "i" oil pans and transmissions compatible?

If you can find a piece of sheet metal, just cover the A/C radiator. If not, at least some cardboard in case there are any "oops" moments. lol

Yes, definitely get started under the car. It's easy but tedious to take the heat shields and drive shaft out on your back.

                        Compatible with what?

What I should have said is canI use an e transmission and oilpan on the i motor?

afaik, oilpan yes. and i think you will want to keep the trans because of your driveshaft setup and your trans' older output flange. it should bolt up to both motors the same.

Sweet, thanks! Based on what I've gathered, this is the tentative plan:

Sunday- Order old/missing parts and start on tranny
                              Monday- Remove eta engine
                              Tuesday- Prep i motor
Wednesday- Lower it in, start attaching things
Thursday-Weekend- Check and recheck wires/tubes and possible start up.

                              I'm ambitious :P

yep, might as well replace the mounts and guibo while you're at it. and probably the shift linkage bushings as well. it's not erryday you have the chance to have errything out of the way
