Options programming for the models that support it, e.g. when you go to the dealer and ask them to change DRLs, automatic door locks, etc. The difference here is that it goes a lot beyond what the dealer software can do.
I think your E34 should have a few configurable options relating to lighting, like disabling bulb checks if you switch to LEDs in some fixtures, for example.
