    The Henna Flip

Anyone seriously interested in an 84 325e Henna 5 speed? My neighbor is selling it. Needs some work but there is no rust and running. One owner car which makes it interesting because who the hell owns a car for 26 years.

I thought of buying it just to flip it but not sure if there is truly any local interest in an orange-reddish BMW. Serious replies. Clean title, one fender bender 15 years ago that was repaired (dont you love an original owner), there is a dent in the front fender, crack dash, AC not working, driver side seat torn, leaking some oil. I'll try posting some pictures.

Edit: If I sell it I am looking at $1800 to $2500.

haha so much of it has been parted out. There is no sunroof, interior, window motors. It's seriously a running shell. I just worked on the engine sold everything else. It is/was going to be a track car. Project has been a little slow going, thinking about selling it now.

paint needed buffing badly (or possible repaint),
front fender was scraped badly and needed replacing (which means the whole side should be repainted to match the new fender,
windshield wiper was very slow and intermitently working,

Exterior mirrors needed buffing or repainting
power windows were slow as was the sunroof.
                OBC not working
                Knee bolster missing
Broken hood handle (hard to open the hood)
                Broken glove box
                Antena not retracting
Leaking oil (you could smell it 10 feet away)

When he couldn't find the T-belt receipt that added a minimum of $400 of preventive maintence and considering the oil leak, it just took things over the top. It had a black interior.
Haha that pretty much sounds like my car when I got it. Except the body is straight. But mine, since we're throwing 2 hennas into the thread goes as follows.

Odometer replaced with one that says 151k. Carfax shows bout 220k.
Timing Belt, Tensioner, Water pump all completed
paint needed buffing badly (or possible repaint), Same
Body is straight, there are some drilled holes from a badly installed body kit.
windshield wiper was very slow and intermitently working, Same
Tires are ok, comes with bottle caps,
                crack dash, Same
                No A/C
                i Cluster works
                No Interior
Exterior mirrors needed buffing or repainting, Same
                No sunroof, no window motors
                No OBC
                No Knee bolster
                No glove box
                Static antenna
                No leaks

So my 84 has about 220k on the block and chasis.

Goodies are ported 731 head with i valves and i cam. 5 angle valve job, new guides, dual valve springs. 0 miles on refresh.

Motronic 1.3 173 DME, MarkD 19#lb injector chip. All i parts.
                Locked 3.73 diff.
                Working i cluster.
New cap, rotor, water pump, plugs, fuel filter, gaskets, timing belt.
                No A/C, No P/S.
                Original cooling system.
Suspension hasn't been touched yet. Rear Bilsteins.

California car rust free chassis. There is little surface rust in spots, but you know what I mean by cali rust free car. I'm from Michigan and this is a rust free car.

This is a super feeler, I hate feelers, but since there is a thread about hennas, I thought I'd throw it out there. If I decide to sell I'll clean it up and make it sellable. It runs. It can be driven if you want. It has a straight pipe right now. I'm asking $1500 for everything. There are a lot of spare parts as well, including a corbeau race seat and headers I may keep.

How much did that guy want for the henna you saw Javier?

I wanted to buy it and sell it for $1800-$2500 as is. If I knew someone would buy it sight unseen for that price from me, I would have pull the trigger. It did have a sports interior but needed attention. I'm not keen on selling things that I dont own btw; it just seemed like a good idea at the time, especially the charm of being a one owner car.

There was a nice one on cl this summer. Had goldish 14inch bbs style wheels. Went from $2500 to $1300. I don't think there is really THAT much of a market for them. And with the description you just gave I wouldn't give more him more than $500.

I'm confused. Is it still for sale? Can I buy it from your neighbor?

The car is not for sale nor has it never been advertised (aside from this thread). I just approached the owner and he would have sold to me because of my association. I'm holding off on buying it and have decided on selling the Mtech kit instead. On these things, its not always about money as crazy as that sounds. Aside from the fender, the car is very staight and yes, it would have been nice to restore it as time and finances permitted. If someone offered me $1800, I would have possibly sold it. There was no rust on this car. None. I still might get the car.

i'm trying to figure out exactly what the big deal is. most of those cons listed seem to be what you'd expect from a car over two decades old. for instance, i consider my car a pretty clean example, and it share(s/d) many of the same problems listed, ie. slow sunroof, no knee bolster, bad antenna motor, warm a/c, old timing belt, broken odo...the fact is, you're talking about a car that you presumably were looking to buy for less than a grand. the fact that most things still work in some fashion is a 'pro.' if you're lazy, yes it will cost more than its worth. $400+ for a timing belt is ridiculous. get off the couch and diy it for <$100 - all new belts, fluids and waterpump. replace the obc, hood release, cluster, and lubricate the moving parts, for another $50 with some minimal searching/effort. and for shit's sake, don't complain that the paint needs to be buffed.
