Yeah man I picked up my 1g the beginning of January and I've just been fixing and upgrading things as I go.

It went up for sale on CL for $2800. When I went to check out the car it had an exhaust leak which I assumed was a bad gasket, a powersteering leak and bald tires. I knocked $600 off the asking price just by making the guy feel like shit about asking so much for it. So I drove away with a dark red with grey bottom 1990 Talon TSI. Motor just had the timing and balance shaft belt done 2k before I bought it. It had like 15 years worth of receipts from the previous owner so I think I came away on the winning side.

Only mods that were done before I bought the car was a welded center diff.(yes AWD :D) The exhaust leak ended up being two studs being broken off in the head. The leak from the PS was the return line. No biggy. And I've been putting it around ever since. Came with two EPROM ecu's, hardware and software to run stand alone and speed density, 26mm rear sway bar, a second transfercase, spare cluster, spare HVAC panel with switches, spare intake manifold, throttle body, coil, power transistor, and a Pacesetter turbo manifold. Not a bad pick up if I do say so myself.

Picked up a set of Evo Vlll wheels with tires and slapped thse on. Gets me from A to B reliably and quickly lol.

Nice!! My uncle was going to give me one of his (hes actually kind of selling his main beast that he just re-built) much like yours; just a stock tsi but he's all the way in Texas and he believes I'm too noob to handle DSM problems haha

Edit: if you ever need any advice my uncle is THE dsm guru and he could answer just about anything you throw at at him; could give you his number if you want/he consents :)
