Please tell us more details on the motor like, SETA bottom end with a ported I head and I intake? Reground Cam, after market cam or stock? M50 injectors or stock? AFM modifications? Did you use a chip on the ECU if so which chip? I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 327 for the Mtech so it would be nice to know what worked for you. It sounds like whatever you did worked out well.

    Cheers,

Sup Jim, it looks like these guys bought the engine that way and then just dropped it in with no other issues. Good work for few backyard wrenchers though.

SETA bottom End, Rebuilt I head from Metric Mechanic , I intake (from the old 325 that it use to be), We have the M50 injectors but havent put them in yet because we wanted to see how it would run before adding more to it. No chip this is the stock 325i ECU. Hope this helps a bit, Im not an expert with E30's but this all happened in my back yard so I was able to catch up on a few things.

yeah justin basically wrapped it up for ya. we're not going to start additions to the motor until we are completely comfortable with how the swap runs. the previous motor ran so poorly that we want to make sure we've replaced any sensors or leaks that we may have caused previous issues. seta bottom, rebuilt 885 head dual valve springs, i cam, 173 ecu, f1 stg 2 clutch, machined flywheel and intake mani. next step *might* be 027 m30 afm and 17# injectors. nothing major, it's a super budget build. either way, pulls nice and hard.

Thank you for the spec's on your stroker motor.

I'm sure that you guys had some fun and learned some things doing it yourselves and it sounds like you have a good plan for the future.

                Cheers,

^ yeahh, we had fun pulling that motor out for 6 hours, and 3 days of re-installing/ troubleshooting.

but all in all, i want stroker now too.

That's not too bad, we have been working on my son's motor R&R for about a month now. We can't work on it every day and we are trying to clean up 20 years of crud on the motor and engine bay while we are there. I am hoping that we don't have too much of the troubleshooting part...

I think that the stroker is a great first step to improving performance unless you want to go to the next level which would be M or S5x or do it like the "big boys" and go with a snail which in CA would be a PITA to smog.

                    Cheers,

                    Jim

if your fuel pump doesnt seem to work when you crank the engine for the first time, try jump starting it with a battery... thats what we did
