3of of my e30's did this same thing and the e36 as well.
Turn out to be the fuel pump in all of them

your car has 2 fuel pumps. it could be either of them. but do the tests i mentioned first before dropping 100s on pumps.

the luxury of owning multiple e30's lol. I swapped fuel pumps to see if one was bad before and it was the fuel pump plug, so lame.

the 530i/535i is much better for maintenance tho. i worked on Dane's 540i and i vowed to never ever buy one.

Yeah, that's what I was looking for when I got the 330i. And I love the 330. So I want to get a clean 540 and keep both my other cars anyway.

true but F the maintenance on the M62. the water pump took me and my dad like 4 hours. bc the damn hoses in the valley kept falling out. along with everything being so weird and awkward. then we did the window regulators and that has got to be the cheapest crap way to do a window ever... maybe some Alpha/fiat/citron is worse but i've never worked on those
