So I know a guy. This guy has a Euro License Plate Printer. Don't ask me how I know him or how he got the machine because: I've known him for a while and I don't know how he acquired it.
Anyway,
Say for example.. I decide I want a "Euro-Style" license plate (wide) vs the US style license plate (ugly).. Can I legally run a license plate that has the same numbers as my state-issued license plates, including the same "(insert-state-name-here) banner" and the month/year registration tags?
Anyone even heard of such a thing?

America sucks
EDIT:
Did some more research. CVC code states that in CA, an authentic CA-Issued license plate must be displayed on both front and rear of the vehicle. Lack of a front plate is considered a minor offense and is punishable my a maximum infraction of a correctable-offense ticket; running a euro plate or anything that is non-state-issued is deemed as a lack of displaying a front plate and faces identical punishment.
The rear on the other hand... Lack of a rear plate is punishable as a misdimeanor offense; running a non-state-issued plate is considered forgery of a legal document and is punishable as a state felony offense.
Yikes.
Glad I asked first.Last edited by JinormusJ; 05-31-2014, 01:54 AM.

cops watch plates like hawks, too.
at my last reserve unit, my section leader was a sac county sheriff. he'd pick me up on the way south to fort ord, and he'd pick out expired tags on our way there and back, like it was something he couldn't help doing.past:
