    I had this issue with my 318is I bought a few months ago. There's a 32mm nut on the shaft below the u-joint. If I recall correctly, to tighten the nut, you turn the wrench counter clockwise should you be looking down at the column from the driver's seat. I used the fan clutch style wrench and kept tightening the nut until no play was exhibited in the column. No more clunks in the steering!

    I've done this with an airbag e30 convertible with an e36 rack swap as well.

        The rear springs are definitely different. If you put the springs on a coupe, you'll end up with a lot of rake since the rears are made to compensate for the extra few hundred pounds of the vert out back.

          ah K, I thought so. Well I'm gonna get some new springs and shocks for my vert but wanted to see if I could go with non vert springs.
