That's with a short shift kit that was a good chunk of that budget
Granted you won't find a barely used clutch kit for dirt cheap, etc. etc. you can manage to do one for under $700 easy


Speaking of budgets, there was a vert partout here in middle of no where Antelope:
Didn't think much of it, but my friend convinced me to go. Got a distributor cap, spark plug wire guide, breather hose, coolant overflow line, and 5 Basketweave caps for $20

did you do the swap yourself? how intricate is the swap?

Yes, I did it myself, but since I was a first time swapper, I had local help from the e30 crew down south.

The swap itself isn't too complex. 10 tranny bolts, drop the tranny, change the flywheel, insert pilot bearing. After that it's a basic clutch job (put the clutch in, torque to spec, pop tranny back in etc.). Pedal box/driveshaft/clutch cylinders is pretty straight forward. Only thing that can give you a snag is the wiring; my buddy did that for me, but as far as I know there isn't any splicing, so it's unplug and plug 2 connectors and you're good to go

As long as you have all the parts and do ample research for your model, you'd be fine

Selling my last one and buying this IS was one of the more prouder things I've done. Sure, my last car was fantastic, but pootering around in my slushbox IS is just that much better just cause its an IS..


I honestly love your car though.. I don't know if I would feel right parting with it

I need to do a 5 spd swap too. Time to source parts. Correct me if I am wrong, for my 86 I need the getrag 260 from an early model, the carrier from the early model and a driveshaft that has a large guibo?

Also the pedal assembly and whatnot.

Just got this in the mail from white325is, it's really strong. PC by Renewed Finishes in wrinkle black. I'd buy it again just for the quality.
Also in the middle of shampooing my carpets. I deleted a rattle I had too.

either will work you just need all of one or all of another. and you need the flywheel marker for the eta
