IMO; smoked housings only look good on e36s and up
As do the most "modern" retrofits like angel eyes. They.. Just... Don't.. Work...
I was contemplating even laminex yellow for a while, but I go over it because I wasn't looking for the tuner look. Smoked housings on a "Deep" e30 color could work though. Besides that, the chrome gives the e30 the retro-"throwback" look. Unlike on modern cars, chrome actually looks good on an e30 and usually better than blackout/smoke
