    Bimmerfest 2012 | Battle of the Bimmers, Sponsored by Nitto Tire



    Bimmerfest and TUNER GALLERIA team up for the 2012 Battle of the Bimmers, sponsored by Nitto Tire! In keeping with the tradition of Battle of the Bimmers, registration is limited to the first 75 cars accepted within the Modified, Stock and Classic categories. With over 2000 BMW cars expected to be on display at Bimmerfest 2012, the Battle of the Bimmers will represent only the best!

    The entry fee for the general Bimmerfest 2012 event is $20 per BMW vehicle to park in the show (including all passengers free) but does not include being judged as part of any competition. For those who wish to compete for trophies and prizes, you must register for Battle of the Bimmers, sponsored by Nitto Tire.

    The entry fee for Battle of the Bimmers is $60 per BMW (including all passengers free). Vehicles registered for Battle of the Bimmers are parked together in a special section and have a separate entrance gate set aside for vehicle roll-in. The vehicles will be professionally judged and the winners will be recognized at the official award ceremony presented by the Bimmerfest staff.

    The award categories are:

    + Best of Show Overall (Winner receives a free set of Nitto Tires.)
    + Best Rising Star (Only owners 25 years old or younger are eligible.)
    + Best Shop / Sponsor / Vendor Ride
    + Stock - First, Second, Third
    + Classic - First, Second, Third (Only pre-E30 vehicles are eligible, < 1984 vehicles.)
    + Modified - First, Second, Third

    Already registered for Battle of the Bimmers is a rare 1990 Dinan E30 M3 Turbo, 1 of 4 built by Dinan.

    In addition, the President and CEO of BMW North America, Ludwig Willisch, will be speaking to the crowd at 1:00 PM, after making quite the appearance in the all new 2013 BMW M6 Coupe.

        The Battle of the Bimmers entrance gate is located on Rosemont Avenue, between N Arroyo Boulevard and Seco Street.

        Judging and Award Ceremony:

        Vehicle judging begins promptly at 9:00AM and concludes at 1:00PM. Your BMW will be categorized in one of the three classes: Classic, Stock or Modified.

        Shop, sponsor or vendor owned vehicles will compete for a separate award and are not eligible for the Classic, Stock or Modified classes.

        The award ceremony will commence at 1:45PM.

        Saturday, May 19, 2012
        Immediately following the conclusion of Bimmerfest at 3:00 PM

            Wow, they charge to enter in Battle Of The Bimmers now?

            Even if I did it they'd never pick an E30. Too many E92s with $40,000 in credit card mods.

              When you register for Battle of the Bimmers, you receive the following benefits:

              1. Entry in the professionally judged competition. All judges have BMW specific knowledge and experience. All judges are car builders themselves.
              2. Separate entry gate into the show for Battle of the Bimmers competitors. (Avoid waiting on the same long lines getting into Bimmerfest as the general vehicle entries.)
              3. All your passengers that arrive in your BMW enter the show free.
              4. Battle of the Bimmers competitors are all parked in the specially designated area. For those competitors that register for Battle of the Bimmers, but your vehicle is committed to a sponsor booth, not a problem. Let us know which booth you are located in, and we will judge your car at that booth.
              5. Compete for trophies and prizes and ultimate bragging rights.
              6. Individual competitors in Battle of the Bimmers will not be competing against shop or vendor owned BMWs. Those vendor/sponsor cars have a separate award category to compete in.
              7. Media from domestic and international publications will be onsite to scout their next feature rides.

                Last year, Ryan from RGMW based in Norcal won the Modified category with his S54 powered E30 M3. We look at not only the amount of mods, but also the execution and attention to detail.

                Also, individual competitors in Battle of the Bimmers will not be competing against shop or vendor owned BMWs. Those vendor/sponsor cars have a separate award category to compete in.

                  But Ryans car is a shop car. 99% of e30 drivers don't have a $50k+ budget like an e92 me owner or $50k worth of equipment at our disposal like Ryan does. Not listing e30s in classic is setting us up to fail. BMW considers the e30 to be a classic. They even raised the price on parts to reflect it.

                    Yes, we realized that Ryan's E30 M3 is a shop car. That is why we changed the rules this year to make competition more fair for our BMW enthusiasts. Shop/vendor/sponsor owned cars will compete in a separate category and not be eligible for the Stock, Classic and Modified categories.

                    In addition, we recognize that the younger enthusiast typically doesnt have the same discretionary funds to mod, so we also have a Best Rising Star award for those owner's 25 years old and under.

                    Last year, the Classic category was truly only represented by the handful of 2002's in competition. Would you guys like us to revise the Classic category to include E30? It certainly can be done with enough interest from the E30 community.

                          Now... It's 110% commercial and that has become the main focus.

                            For those not interested in competing in Battle of the Bimmers, you can still register for Bimmerfest, park your car and come out to have fun. I think as of this morning, there were over 1400 cars registered.

                            While we are only helping to organize the Battle of the Bimmers portion of Bimmerfest 2012, through our own experience in event production, its not an easy gig. The cost of production is always increasing and you reach a point where you need to commercialize for the numbers to make sense.
