Hey dudes. As of now, there really aren't any plans for a CBQ3.
To be honest I agree with most peoples opinion of the location. It just didn't work out.
The main problem with this meet is really the fact thatost everyone is broke/doesnt want to drive anywhere further than 20 miles away from home. Everyone complained and complained about how far the drive was last year. The fact of the matter is LA meets, as convenient as they are to most, are costing us numbers. By numbers I mean the amount of people who come. We were trying to lure guys from up north to head down for a cool meet.
We all know the LA scene is strong but that's not the only scene out there.
The other issue was the cost of the event. There was ton of money and time tied up in that meet last year and we all but broke even. If I recall correctly, we had like $20 when all was paid for.
We tried to have an event that would be enjoyed but we also had to keep in mind that no one would have wanted to pay $20 to go to CBQ but that's what it would have taken to have a better event and a better location
So, if you guys are down to pony up some more money for an event, we can definitely get some stuff in the works for the future. But if everyone complains about $10 to get it, we really can't do much for you.

Honestly, some things/events can not be duplicated., With that said, I, like others on this thread, know too damn well what it takes to make the magic happen........ and a big lump some of the community, just "DOES NOT APPRECIATE IT"
There's a lot of personal time, that gets put into the organization of an event., Those are the bits that most people don't see and later talk crap about.

I was just hoping to attend another sausage fest with you...;)
No one wants to have to pay to go to a meet, but c'mon man you cant expect the organizers of these types of events to eat the whole cost just so you get to go to a free meat
All you guys who organize the carbq are my friends and I don't mind helping out a friend who does something cool for us as a community!
Travis, the meet is about making enough money to cover expenses as well as about making every meet better than the last. And what does that take? Money. If we had extra $$ that means the the next event will have more funds available to make it better.
Without having abiggert budget every year, the only other option we would have would be to charge more per car every year for a better event.

it wasn't the drive, at least not for me; i drove from long beach that day to BFE sandlot once i was off work at 330, i spent more time in my seat than at the meet, im okay with that. If things are all set up and coordinated i don't mind forking out the cash.
I think what Travis meant; and I hope he can correct me if im worng; came from how you worded things Taylor, "nothing really planned" "broke even" "all but 20$" it comes off like theres nothing being planned because last year wasn't profitable. Now don't get me wrong, i understand that if you got personal money tied up in something, you at least need to make that back, i get that. However theres different ways of planning events and coordinating things where you're not financially vested.
I like the idea of bringing new people out and expanding horizons, its great. Keep in mind though that it's not just about finding a midway point between two places, the actual location matters. The SD picnic (4 years strong now) is a great example, the group that goes knows its a good time, not once has there been an unhappy person or any dispute about money, profits, losses or breaking even, its money. People pitch in, people share, some people can only bring for themselves, its all good, its the experience and the people.

of course meets of this nature need money to cover costs for many things, that is completely understandable and i have absolutely no problem paying a fee. it was just how you had worded it taylor, and i just wanted to make sure it wasn't all about making money off of everyone, even if there ends up being profit, it would be nice to maybe use that money to reserve a spot somewhere the following year or put it towards the next one. just wanted to make sure people didn't go off what you wrote into thinking all you guys want is to make money off of it. i know there are a bunch of cheap asses on here, and if they don't like the fact of dropping some money to cover costs, well then they sure as hell don't need to come. plain and simple.

yeah, it was just how it was written is all. but i honestly wouldn't mind the drive either. i think it gives a sort of an incentive and adventure, at least for me anyways, when you end up driving out far someplace for a meet. at least that's how i feel. if people bitch, let them bitch. don't come. means less shit heads.
