    Swapped E30 - Cali options

I'm exploring some options ATM and moving back to SoCal is on that list.

I currently have an S50 swapped E30 that passes Az emissions but due to Cali's stringent regulations I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's not happening.

I know that BAR will be an option, but do I have any others?

Pay some smog shop just to pass you.

Plenty of people in CA can get "special smogs" done. That's the easiest way of course. You would definitely save some money if you made your car legal though. I drove my S50 E30 for over 4 years with no issues.

i personally prefer getting smogged at the really shady place in chinatown, where i have chances of getting robbed by triads with long pony tails.

If the cat is on the car and passes the normal sniffer you can find plenty of shops that don't even look at anything else. I've taken a few cars to the same guy, and he doesn't look at mods or anything. He tries really hard to make your car pass also.

That's very true, I know somebody who took his S52 E30 to smog and it passed the emissions. The tech of course overlooked the engine swap.

Cool, doesn't sound as bad as I originally thought. I put in a new cat when I built the car, and passed pretty easily IIRC.

                      thanks again guys

From my experience if it looks stock, IE BMW engine in a BMW, and you dont go to a BMW guy, chances are he wouldn't even know its not stock
