I'm looking for a good machine shop around auburn ca. I don't really want to travel more than 100 miles. I was talking with a buddy of mine who drag raced his 427 mustang and he was saying the local guy here dose okay work and I would like a better shop than just okay work. I will not go to a auto parts store shop. My buddy with a 66 mustang went there and they under bored the block and totally fucked up the block. Same with a Napa shop with my friends Chevy 350. I'd like to not have to deal with crappy work and have them get it done right the first time. Any suggestions? And please have experience with the shop you recommend.

Check out Rebello Racing.
They're in Antioch, just within 100 miles of Auburn.
They are an experienced race shop with experience building motors for world challenge teams, scca nationals teams, etc.
The owner Dave is a great resource and talked with me for several hours in aggregate during the rebuild of the top and bottom end of the s52 they just handled for me.
I highly recommend them.

Dave Rebello is a good guy. He masterminded the cylinder head on my Datsun which I think is the highest flowing one of its type he has tested.
That said, Dave can get very busy and end up putting things on the back burner.
There is a guy here in Napa that is pretty good. TEM Machine. His name is Rich and he is pretty on top of things. One of his guys does know BMW engines very well.
