Thoughts and condolences out to their friends and family. I'm sure they're in a better place right now, and in Pauls own words, "If one day the speed kills me, do not cry because I was smiling"
Did anyone else here show up? I counted maybe 3 other E30's that rolled through, didn't get a chance to walk through all the surrounding parking lots, though.
You may have seen my car, I had some VIP parking right next to the grey Aventador.

I'd like to give a shout out to Universal Studios for unofficially supporting the memorial meet. They worked together with private owners to bring a couple of the cars you saw in the movies, as well as funding the banner everyone signed, and the camera guy that recorded our 2 minutes of silence to be in the credits of F&F 7.
Then there's Northpark Community Church, who let the unofficial event occur in their parking lot, as well as letting a lucky 100 people park in there (including me)
Another shout out to the local Sheriff department, I would've thought them to be cracking down on all the illegally modified cars/ motorcycles passing by and banging the r3v limiter in front of them, but they remained calm, and I even got a couple of them shouting "Nice!" at my car. I hear some people illegally parked got citations, but the only ones I heard of that were towed were people parked a mile away at Walmart.
Now to the crash.. There's been a lot of speculation as to exactly what happened, and while I wasn't there at the time, there are some interesting points I'd like to make:
It's hard to tell from aerial view/ street view on google maps, but the corner is relatively tricky.. It's a long, uphill "S" sweeper, with a reducing radius at the end, as well as flattening out on the corner exit. I would say it's a 80-90mph corner in a Carrera GT.

The skidmarks didn't start until maybe 30-40 feet before the curb/ lightpole, and their steep angle, lack of skidmarks or marks of a blowout before that, and gap between them and the corner exit make me believe the cause of the crash was a combination of speed, the reducing radius, flattening out of a relatively steep hill, and the upcoming 90 degree corner- so initial increase in steering angle, throttle off, over a crest, brakes, mid engine tank slapper, light pole, tree, gas main, tree. and yes, the wreck slid over/ took out what looks to be a gas valve on Google street view.
