    Junk Yards Bay Area

Lets face it, Pick n Pull is one of the most expensive junk yards in California. Yes they usually have a good amount of cars and some of there prices are reasonable but a lot of other prices are just like WTF?? Like a relay for instance, its $10 and you can get a brand new one for $12 on pelican auto (just an example, we know how much most people really pay for them at the yard :-D)

So, can anyone tell me some yards that have a good euro/e30 selection and is also self serve? Any input is appreciated even if i have to drive out of the bay a little.

+1 I recently pulled rear axles and a driveshaft from a miata and they charged me almost $250. Pick n Pull is stupid expensive.

i remember when i was getting a heater control valve from the newark pnp. the part was supposed to be around $7 based on their price chart that they have posted. but as soon as they found out it was a bmw part the price instantly double and they came up with some bs excuse to justify it.

i feel that once they find out what car the part is for they instantly increase the price.

especially since they changed the rule where you have to pay to enter every PnP. I used to pay at South San Jose then travel to North PnP and another fairly close one if I had time. Stopped doing that when I had to pay at every location. Dumb...

There are tons of dismantlers here in sac, this one guy in particular comes to mind, but his prices are stupid expensive as well. Charged me 20$ for the brake like sensor switch thing behind the gas pedal...30 second swap out part.

They definitely increase the price for BMW and other "high end" models.
The guy at the counter strait up told me so. Its BS. How ever when you need a quick part, or just dont want to pay for shipping on a big item like a dash or some seats its still worth it.
I usually buy a big item and pilfer a few smaller items like window switches and such lol
I think a lot of people do this.
The thing I hate most about PNP is that people DESTROY perfec parts of the car just to get to a small item underneath. Also they smoke and put huge holes in all the other wise great seats. Bums me out.

It really just depends on the guy at the register. Went to pnp last weekend and got two e34 oil pans, oil pump pick ups and 2 dipsticks w tubes for $63.

However most of the time they are dicks. Just gotta get lucky

You can get their rewards card, it's free. It let's you pay at any yard and enter another for free, just have the card with you.

If you get a stamp you can go to all of them, just did it. Also you have to fight with them on what they are trying to charge you, I have to do it all the time.

I used to use the stamp method, then they started to use different stamps at different locations. Then I stopped going haha, but their rewards card seems like a good idea.

Ya I payed $32 for a iS spoiler. I would think it would be categorized as the "small spoiler" listening in there parts list but he asked me if its for a BMW, I guess because of that he just charged for the most expensive spoiler price they have. Only good deal is steering wheels, Someone chime in with you hidden yards!

Just a heads up. If you're at the stockton pnp, avoid the old Mexican lady at the front register. She will charge you for every bolt, screw, ects.
