    Motor Oil

what do you use for your cars? I keep seeing 20w50 pop up, I live in tracy norcal which is by the bay area, and am doing an oil change not sure what to get. I've got a 325i cabriolet m20 engine.

20w-50 is best, how many miles do you have on the car, you can run 10w-40 too

184000~ is where the the meter stopped since then I've probably put about 3-4000 miles on it. so I guess around 188000-189000.

The M20 engine calls for 20w50 from the factory in summer. Since we live in California we should be running this year round. I know I do. Brand of choice is up to you. I always run Valvoline VR1 20w50 in mine.

Amsoil, 15-25k OCI. Sisters civic would burn almost a quart every 3-5k of regular oil. Uses only a quart now every 20-25k. 0w-20. I'd suggest their HD Series 3000 5w-40 diesel oil. Their synchromesh MTF also got rid of my second gear grind at higher rpm's. Most wear occurs at start up, I remember my m30 hated 20w-50.

Also, I think the Castrol BMW uses is a true synthetic, not the crap we get in the States.
