Housing in LA. Any rooms for rent?

    Hey guys,

I will be in LA for about 3-4 weeks in June (and early July). I already spoke with Ireland Engineering and they said they will give me a summer gig for the month so I can make a few bucks while I'm there.

The only thing left is where I'm going to stay.

I started looking around and so far, everything on craigslist is a beach summer house, youth hostels are all in tourist Hollywood, and the closest Camden to IE does not rent rooms.

I am looking for places in the Duarte area (or anywhere within a 20-25 mile radius). All I need really is a room with a bed and access to a bathroom. Otherwise I'm pretty straight.

    Thanks,
    Erick

Hey, just as a heads up since you might not be accustomed to LA traffic... A commute of 20 miles in this area could take you 45 mins to an hour. Try your best to find a place IN Duarte, or not much more than 10-15 miles outside of it. Whatever you do, stay away from LA!

I have an 11 mile commute to work (LA to Beverly Hills), and it takes me about 30 minutes every morning (and I leave at around 9AM which is just getting past the real rush hour). I know some people who moved from out-of-state to work at my office, and they thought it would be OK to live 20-25 miles away. It takes them about an hour or more to get here every morning.

          Good luck with the search!

^ That's the main reason I am not taking up the youth hostels in Beverly Hills. I can tell Google Maps is a CA based company because CA is the only state where the directions from one place to another will say "30 minutes (or up to 2 hours in traffic)"

I found two places in Pasadena, which looks very close, and I have one PM so far already here. So hopefully I can find a nice affordable place so I can enjoy CA for a few weeks.

Yeah, Pasadena should be good because you have a straightshot from the 210 which isn't horrible from what I've seen. There's also a few side-street options just-in-case.

If I didn't live with my girlfriend, I'd try to get you to stay in my guest-room and fix my e30s for me :)

I live in Encino and work in Beverly Hills and it takes me about 30 minutes when I leave at 6:45 AM everyday.

                  It's about a 14 miles 1-way.

Im in the process of getting an apt in Pasadena on Washington. We shall discuss arrangements. One condition: You must wear an Argentina jersey every day you are here. The choice is yours.

Alright so one of my plans is possibly falling through, and since nothing is confirmed, I'm open to more suggestions/offers.

Mariano, still down to discuss arrangements? :)

i would suggest getting a place in pasadena, theres always cute girls out there and then the commute to work would be really easy since that side of the freeway hardly ever gets backed up. im sure someone would be willing to loan you a room.

sack up and just wear the jersey haha.

shack up and just wear the Argentina jersey, it's your best arrangement and the cheapest, hahaha.

I'm in Pasadena but I'm leaving for NY permanently on the 16th and I've only got a dorm room. If I was staying for the summer I'd ask the roomy if you could have the couch! sorry

Maybe some guys on the 626 (Pasadena area code) drift crew would be willing to help a brother out? I think they have a website and you might be able to find an email address or two.

If you want, I could post a flyer on the local campus billboard about you needing a couch/bed for a month. There might be some PhD students desperate for a couple extra bucks to help pay rent. They get paid less than waitresses.
