Hills east of Mission Viejo, Irvine

Anybody live near the hills east of Mission Viejo and Irvine? Are the roads open? Heavily trafficked? I don't know if there's a particular name for them.

Are the roads in the hills open to drive on? Sometimes the roads up the foothills north of Pasadena would get blocked off. Any popular spots like above Asuza?

Are you referring to the 74? Ortega Highway? yes, it's usually open during daylight hours, and lightest traffic during the mid-day hours. Best part is on the eastern side near Lake Elsinore.

There's always GMR near Pasadena area, and hwy 2 if you're up for a LONG drive...

Kinda far but Palomar Moutain Road is amazing. And always empty.
