Socal Paint Job

I recently purchased an early model Euro Valence that needs an obvious paint job. I need it in schwarz and I need somewhere relatively close to Orange County. I'm in Newport Beach and I know that Costa mesa is overrun with the automotive industry.


Does anybody have a preference of a paint shop that is good and has fair prices?

If so can I get their website or phone number so I could get a quote?

I have no idea how people paint anything or how the process is done but I know I don't want a color that is close to schwarz, I want schwarz.

Otherwise, it looked like that valence is a bit rough and will need some straightening and careful priming work before going to paint.

right I know its a project but at that price for shipping cross-country that was the best bang for my buck I can get.

I could do it myself but i don't trust myself. and I could sand it down and prime it myself... but then again, I don't trust myself. the only thing I trust myself with in the valence project is sanding. that's easy.

It should be on your paint name sticker on the left strut mount in the engine bay.

You'll probably have an easier time taking a can of aircraft stripper to that valence than sanding it. Makes it easier to straighten it properly, too, and easier for the paint guys to lay down an even finish on.

ok this is good info. You got a link to a website carrying the aircraft stripper? Do i just spray the stripper onto the valence and let it sit there? I think in a project forum I saw some guy do this but it was ages ago and i wouldn't be able to find it.

Yes, you spray the stripper onto the valence and let it sit there for 20 minutes or so, then hose it off with the paint. You'll need two or so cans of stripper to do the front and back.

Spraying the actual paint is easy. It's prepping (sanding, cleaning, etc.) that's the bitch. If you can sand, you can paint. Go for it! If not, try wetworks garage in Costa Mesa, www.wetworksgarage.com

I hope you don't mind, but how much did you grab that euro valence for? I got one from the junkyard for 12$ and I might sell it, but I don't know what they run for. Anyways for painting your valence I would just paintscratch it. It's a pretty small job and should be an easy to do at home.

Yeah.. skinnypants is more appropriate.
