    any wrenching jobs in socal

i know its a long shot, but does anyone on here know of any auto/diesel shops in so-cal looking to hire a tech right now? i just graduated from UTI and their job placement is complete bullshit. i am kinda desperate for work right now, so if anyone on here needs anything done, i can give you a good deal on work too. thanks in advance.

Sorry dude. It was my job to hire/fire guys in your position, and I have been on the job hunt for over a year now. You picked a bad time to graduate, and a tough school for anyone to give you any credit from unless you made it into a Manufacturer program, If you didn't, most shops won't want you anyway. I did have good luck sending most of my UTI applicants to EZ Lube/Jiffy Lube.

i did get into the volvo program, but decided not to go cuz most of the graduates out of it dont get jobs and get stuck paying for it. right now i will take any job, i am broke as shit, and there are even less jobs in sac right now.

Welcome to being Farbined. I think it is a more loose term then previously intended. Serious though, you can get in at a Jiffy Lube, or other quick lube shops. With your training, you are above the curve on their applicant pool.

It's going to be hard knocks for a while, at the moment.

I know quite a few highly experienced techs that are knocking on doors because many shops have just gone down the tubes.

Don't sweat it too bad though, I started in a bad economy (80's) and survived.

Just take whatever comes and work up from there.

E30nate why don't you offer your services to the people in distress with their vehicles. you know do basic auto maint. like, u'll change their brakes or oil, i mean just giving you examples you know... since we're in these times of pocket crunch. why not offer a better deal to people that don't want to spend a boat load

                        thats my .02 cents

if you we're in LA id pay you to do my head gasket :D, but yea like farbin said , im sure you can get a job at a fast lube place, i my self i know it sucks but im a lube tech at "Oil Stop" its sponcerd by Chevron, there a few in Cali, i know theres one in Sac town. they start off i think 9-10 a hour and if you pass a stupid 160 Q test you get one more buck. Its easy work basic flush's no advance stuff but its easy as cake. And their company is doing pretty well money wise, sady i work for a franchis one so we're a lil diffrnt pay wise but the work is easy, none of that rip ppl off bs from jiffy or ez lube places. Just a thought i know they have one up there and other places in nor cal. www.oilstopinc.com, its nothing crazy liek i said but hey i can say i have worked on like every car but high end cars like lambos an shit. think ive done like 5000 plus cars lol but ill be going to school soon for smog tech so yea its exp.
