its ready to roll! r&r'd most all in engine compt and the rest of the mechanicals.

    new radiator
cleaned injectors, tb and intake runners
    new starter
    new belt
    changed oil and filter
fixed the dreaded o-ring leak from oil filter housing
    redline mtl for tranny
    redline 75w90 for diff
    brake and clutch system flushed
    K&N airfilter cleaned and oiled
    many misc other fixes
    interior cleaned
    exterior compounded and waxed
came out better than I expected.

regretably, a new project popped up today and instead of keeping the 320 as my commuter car, it must go to make room. will be posting for sale soon.

engine - compression(cold) in the 215 range +/-10. not too bad.
tranny getrag250 that the vin traces to a z3 1.9
diff - 2.93 LSD with high lockup
guibo and center bearing in excellent shape
spark plugs were bosch platinumx2's in good shape
radiator, starter and alternator will need replacing
oil leak coming from the dang o-rings on the back of the oil filter housing. ordered a bunch since min qty was 25, so if anyone needs one..

got a chance to take it around the block today to see what worked. everything seems to! engine does not feel stock. pulls way too hard for a normal m50. hope to get to some engine tests and pull valve cover soon.

Yeah, I have a few more now. How is DC chapter doing these days? Thought you had a light weight M3 as well?

That's a rare red color as well never offered here in the US. Think I remember seeing that car a few time down in Richmond at NASA auto-x events.

    mlytle64 - do you have a 2002 with a m20 swap?
Your thinking of Ian's car. He lives in Fairfax.

When you move down to Va beach area? You get transfered from the Annex next to Belvoir?

made half-ass attempt to get it running today. checked all fuses and relays, checked oil and coolant, dropped fully charged battery in it and turned the key. slowly turned over.....and then....it started! holy crap, after sitting for over a year it works! alternator not working (among other things), but i was shocked. actually drove it to end of driveway, turned around and parked it facing the other way. whoo hoo! enough e30 for a while though, gotta finish the 02's interior before the race school in mid march.

    damn.

the e46fanatics fellows put together a monthly meet, it's usually a good time. check out the mid-atlantic section on there and stop by some time. if I remember I'll cross-post the meets, I just moved down here to start a business with my buddy who just left checkered flag bmw

wasn't even looking for a car. guy at a party overheard me talking about building bmw race cars and offered that he had the car wasting away in his yard....

want to get it running and freshened, then not sure if i will keep or sell.
