Need advice on a buy/sale transaction

I am going to leave this really vague, because I truly don't think that the guy is in any way trying to screw me over, but at the same time, I still want my parts.

Edit: The user is Greg Vival. Username vivalegreg

A month or so ago I posted about splitting a parts car. I needed certain parts, and ultimately I never bought the car. I was pointed to a member here who had the parts that I needed, so I contacted him. He sent pictures and we had agreed on a price for a few parts. I asked about some brackets and mounts, and he stated that he had them and would include them. He lives about 2 hours from me, so we agreed to meet up as soon as was convenient for us both.

Throughout the process, we communicated by phone and text. We had to cancel meeting up once or twice, but we worked it out. After a couple weeks of working the logistics, we met up about 2 weeks ago (2 weeks ago today, actually) at his work for me to buy the parts. When I got there, he had forgotten the mounts and brackets for the larger items that I bought. I had driven about an hour out of my way on the way home from a trip for work, and he lived 30 minutes away from his work (plus he was not sure that he knew where they were at his house), so I went home and he promised to get them to me.

It has now been 2 weeks. He is not answering his phone (I have left messages) and he only responds to texts with short messages where he does not commit to any time frame to get me the (required) brackets or mounts.

Because we met in person, he wanted cash and not a paypal payment. I don't know how to proceed. I don't think that he intentionally screwed me, but I need the brackets or the parts that I already have are useless. Buying the brackets from someone else will run me between $60-100.

Any advice as to how to handle this? I took off all next week to work on stuff with my cars, house work, and to run errands. I could buy the parts and have them to me in time to use them next week, but I have no assurances that the guy will give me any refund- he won't even answer my calls.

    What do you guys recommend?

Cliffs: Bought parts in cash but seller forgot the (necessary) brackets. Little communications since, and seller is 2 hours from me.

4 hour round trip? Fuck all that. Seller is not communicating well at this point?

Seller, you know who you are. Get your ass down to USPS at least, get it handled.

The pain only lasts for a few minutes, trust me, I know.

If you don't have the parts, man up and PP this guy before shit gets shitty.

okay, who is he, here is another good example of never buying stuff from people that no one has contact with.

If he is popular on teh forum, and he is some what regular around the area, someone will know him.

just post his sn up, name etc.

I spoke with him today for a few minutes, and he professes that he will look this evening and that I will hear from him no later than Saturday. I explained the situation and why I need them soon.

I am passing by his work one day this week (I think) and hope that he has them for me to grab. If not, it would be a convenient time to have him just give me cash.

IIRC, it was you that gave me his name. It was for a set of bumpers that you sold to him.

Since I spoke to him today, I will hold off on naming him just yet. He seems willing to do something, so I will give him another day or so.

I just did not want to call him out by name because it genuinely seems that he just can't find the parts. I don't think he did or does intend to rip me off.

I should have clarified that I was seeking advice as to how much longer I should wait before just requesting the partial refund as opposed to continuing to wait for him to find the mounts.

Thank you for the offers of assistance. If you talk to him, please just remind him to look for them.

Okay, so several more days have gone by with no responses to multiple calls and texts. If anyone sees or talks to Greg, please have him contact me.

I am driving to Baltimore this week and can just stop by his work to get my parts or my money. It does not matter which one I get.

(That is in no way a threat- just a statement regarding the most simple way to resolve this without shipping costs or PayPal fees.)

Well, now he responded to a text but can't find the parts and spent the money (and does not get paid for 2 weeks). I can't think of any spare parts that he has that I would take in trade. I asked him how he thinks it should be resolved, but no reply.

If anyone has a set of plastic bumper shocks and brackets and wants to let them go for cheap, PM me.

It is a pretty badass car. I have an 08 Legacy as my DD. I saw his swapped WRX when I grabbed the bumpers.

I really hate this situation. Hopefully something will work out soon, but in the meantime, I have bumpers I can't use unless I pony up my own dough for replacement mounts.
