FS/FT: 86 eta 5MT sedan. Perfect swap recipient!

    Well, here is the deal...

I bought it as a parts car but when I saw that it was straight and pretty complete on the exterior, I think it seems like a waste to part out a car with a straight frame/body. I was not expecting to get a title with it, but the guy had it. It has a good title.

It had the HG go on it, so it needs a new motor. The head is in the trunk and the block is still in the engine compartment. The previous owner took the driveshaft, exhaust, the rear seat and door panels, plus a few other interior parts.

It would really be a great track car, or if you have interior parts, it would be a good daily, but only if you wanted to go to the trouble of a motor swap. Just the spare 5mt, subframes, brake calipers, elipsoid brackets (one low beam is cracked), strut housings, door locks, handles, window motors, alternator, A/C system, and complete sunroof are probably worth more than I am asking for the complete car. All 4 doors look straight, the hood is pretty good, and the trunk is not bad (though I'd like to keep it).

If I had the space for 5 cars, I'd keep it and do an M50 swap in it.

So if I part it out, I can make more on it than what I want to sell it for, but I woul drather keep it mostly together. The problem is that the parts that I want make it difficult to get rid of the chassis after pulling them.

I really want the wheels (a buddy needs them), the rear subframe (complete side to side, with axles/halfshafts), and POSSIBLY the trunk.

My offer would be to give someone the whole car (minus wheels- bring your own) in exchange for a complete rear subframe and differential (3.73S, 3.46S, maybe even a 3.25S or 4.10S), and possibly cash.

I would pull out a few other small parts that you might see in the pics that I got from the seller, but nothing that is essential or necessary for this car to be tracked.

I would also sell for $500, with title. If I don't sell or get a trade offer in the next week or so, I will part it out, but I hate to see a clean title get parted out.

Sure. Want the block as well?

I doubt that there will be high demand for the head, and if I sell the whole car, it will most likely be as a swap candidate. PM me an offer and we can work out details.

Anything damaged on that head? The right bottom stud looks bent.

I have not even inspected it. I grabbed the car last night and the head was in the trunk. After a 3-hour trip to go 60 miles (loose lugnuts and no lug wrench, so I had to wait for someone to meet us with tools) I was in the doghouse at home. I had not even made it in the house before my wife met me in the garage to hand off my 7 month-old. I can try to get better shots tonight.

Those pics that I have are from while I was waiting for the reinforcements.

I hope that someone close feels the same way.

I don't think that my concept of trading for a subframe is too crazy, but I guess I will find out. I figure I can just about buy what I want if I sell it outright, or I can just trade for it. Trading might help some people who are short on cash.

No, sorry. I should have thrown it in my car Wed night and just brought it to you...I droveright past Brown's yesterday.

I got home too late last night to get pics taken. I will get them this evening or tomorrow- I promise!

EDIT: I did look at the VC mounting studs, and a few are bent. I know that they are replacable (I replaced almost all of the studs when I did my 327i build in my 88 Seta), but I don't know the cost. Mine were about $30 for all of the intake/exhaust studs. The rest I replaced with new-ish studs from heads that I pulled at the JY and shipped w/o studs to make packing them easier.

as long as it's the stud that is bent and not the threaded hole that is messed up i'm good with.

I am officially parting out the 86. I'll sell it whole, but I don't feel like having it in my driveway for more than a couple of weeks.

Once I pull off what I want/need to keep or sell, I will sell the shell with title for anyone who wants it. Depending on what all is left on it, the chassis will sell for between a case of beer and $100.

It is just the studs that are messed up. If you want it, we can try to work out a time/place to meet.

I'd ship it to you, but it probably is not worth the cost.

PM me an offer. I'll probably take it.

Willing to sell the chassis- main body (minus one fender and the trunk), door shells, hood, etc., with title for $100.

Will leave the subframe, RTAs, halfshafts and strut housings if you bring me the same in exchange. This will make towing it a LOT easier.
