It seems like they just ask you in case if you say no. Then when you say no they will be all "well you can't dd this thing!" I read the form and the associated regulations and it does not appear that I need another car. Either way if they ask I'll still say yes.

Ps thanks for the help everyone!
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
        Mark: "You never will."

yeah, my e28 has had historic tags for 2 1/2 years, driven everyday, never a hassle because of the plates.

now getting hassled for the exhaust, or street racing, or a bunch of other crap, that happens alot.

It is like several people have stated earlier. It is all about what an officer can prove in a court of law. Just because I have seen u driving ur car several times in a week doesn't mean it is a daily driver. I have two cars with historic tags. Whoever said to put a license plate frame on the car doesn't do a damn thing. Historic tags have a certain number letter set up. Just like trucks, minivans, and SUVs do. A frame doesn't matter. It could however get u a different really expensive ticket for obstructing the view of registration plates. What everybody needs to realize is that the law is not black and white. Everybody has a different interpretation of the law. Even police officers on the same department. It is all about what can be proved.
Dealer tags are another way people with shitty cars drive in this state. Just look at all the tags and u will see that nobody gives a flying fuck about a dude in a wanna be historic vehicle. U will get more laughs than tickets.

Just so you know. Moco in spanish means booger. Don't rep that too hard.

In VA you can get antique tags after 25 years but they look totally different than regular VA tags. Some are black, some are yellow. I thin it depends on your preference. You can actually buy old plates with your year of production stamped on them as use those as your tags as long as they are in good enough shape.

I've never heard of anyone being stopped for driving their car to much in VA but it wouldn't surprise me. I do know you have to sign and notarize a form saying you have another car to use but I've never heard of anyone checking on that info.

they stoped stamping tags with dates i think in the 70's so that does no good for E30 owners.. but ya VA is 25years.. also in VA if your car is over 25years old you dont have to have Antique tags to get out of some things... Antique tags will get you out of Emissions and VA inspection... while if you car is 25years old and you but regular tags on it you have to have a Safty inspection only no emissions.

when i went to get mine i put the car in someone elses name, but the guy simply asked if we had another vehicle then did the paperwork, he didn't look in the computer so idk maybe you can just say you do.

MD historic tags say HISTORIC on the them, so technically you could get a ticket for driving too often if the cop is a dick, to hide the historic do what i did, get some license plate frames. BAM you just beat the system!
now you can modify the fuck out of your ride and not deal with inspections.

1973 was the final year in VA with the date embossed. Then they went with stickers.

Can you use a car with historic plates on the track? If not, is it the DMV that says you can't or the track? Correct me if i'm wrong but as long as the car passes the tech inspection you can use it right?

The MVA states no rules against this idea. A track, being private property, will have its own rules - how strict or loose they may be. Whatever your track says, that's what you need.

Also you are from NJ and chiming in on MD registration. Every state is different!
