Hey guys. Not new to cars or wrenching but pretty damn new to the E30. Just picked up a 87 325is and started searching the forums, but wondering if there were any locals around to help. I'm just south of Philly, near the airport. Thanks.

For specific problems and upgrade paths, I've found most answers thru searching, but some general stuff that is harder to get from older posts like normal ticking vs. bad ticking. Mines very soft and car runs fine so I'm thinking it's just normal, but I haven't been around these cars long enough to tell the difference.
I've checked the car for the usual stuff: leaks, rust, etc... but might miss some of the E30 specific stuff that I'm not sure whether it is just b/c it's an almost 20 yr old car or is there something wrong. I know the joke is that something is always broken in these cars and I've owned older cars so used to being paranoid about every squeak/clunk/sound. In a nutshell aside from the obvious problems that I know about, not sure what's "normal" for an E30 so would be nice to have more experienced peeps nearby.1991 Alpine 318i w/S52 swap

These cars are pretty simple. What I like about it is it always tells me what I need. I can hear/feel almost exactly what needs replacing. You are welcome to listen to my engine (91k on a 'remanufactured engine'). I'm due for a valve adjustment again but I have done it a few times already and have not noticed a huge change in tickety-tack. They just sound like that. Injectors are noisy too. If you need any help, pm me. My gf lives in Media and I am in Essington so I can lend a hand or eye if you need.Originally posted by chileelkyamaze about the enthusiasm e30 generate
