It would solve it if you got the Getrag 260 to go with the better engine. But I see now you said it's going with something better, so hopefully you're talking about an M50 series or something...I don't know what engines the M20-e tranny (G250?) mates up with.

Alright, I'll spill the beans. I plan on swapping an M30 into an e30. In the procces, you have to get an Getrag 260/5 out of an e28/e24. You can(have to) use the large guibo driveshaft out of an ETA.

'e' cars used the same g260 as the 'i' cars, just different size flex disc on some of them.

Thats the thing, I need the driveshaft with the larger flex disc. The larger flex disc fits with the Getrag 260/5 from e28s/e24s. The "e" had the larger flex disc.

Some did, not all. The later 'e' cars had the smaller flex disc. Can't recall the changeover date, but a little time on realoem would answer that.

Super Eta's came with the larger flex discs too. The one I can use is from a 87 eta or the 88 super eta.

On a side note, have you guys found good scrapyards for finding E30 parts around the area? It's probably a closely guarded secret, but maybe someone is willing to share?

Hammond, Indiana had two last time I was there. Pretty well stripped already. That was last summer. You can check their car listings on the pick n' pull website

Does any one around here have experience with painting their e30? I have an Alpine 2 cabrio but my front 2 fenders are dark grey... I found a site that I can buy paint from, I was just wondering if someone could show me the ropes or just spray them for me. ($100?) I've never painted a car before Soo anything could help. I don't own a spray gun either but I have a 50 gal compressor (unless someone has a paint booth in their garage?) Haha

I have never painted anything before but there is a thread on S14.net where the guy does all the prep work himself and shows you exactly what process to follow. After reading through his rebuild thread it gives me the feeling that I could probably do a lot of the things that I've always been nervous to do myself.

Alternately there's books on Amazon for how to do it.

New car ! Drove her home last night ! Glad to be back in an E30 !

'91 automatic with 23K miles...probably shouldnt have driven it home 50 miles last night but I had to buy it on the spot !

Woo hoo - original timing belt and probably the original tires !

I think its a little warmer today - first wash - so, I ran a hose from my basement water heater thru the house out to garage to my driveway to my powerwasher...better move the hose before wifey gets home.

Who says buying a convertible in Chicago in January is crazy...naaa...

Kudos to Anthony/PROLAZCO and TSOUTH !
