Hope it turns out well! Car meets happen all the time, there's no problem missing one or three.

I'll be there, but since I'll be on campus till 6:30 in all likelihood my commute is going to be stupid short hahahaha.

Ok dudes Im not coming to the meet. Just got back just now, my daughter has Patent ductus arteriosus, or PDA, which is a congenital heart defect, which is minor, but does require a cathoder (sp?) tube to put a plug in this valve in her heart that should have closed a year ago. 2 hour procedure, nothing should go wrong, but still pretty scary.

It really puts everything into perspective for me, I am no longer annoyed at my bouncing temp gauge, rattles that my car generates, or anything else.

Yup, I went. By the time I showed up the CU crew had left and it was just the r3v guys. Was fun even though it took a loooong time to be able to feel my toes again haha.

On a more important note, how is your daughter holding up?

was it cold or something? Well next time it will be more fun because I'll be there. ;)

My daughter is fine, we are going to do the procedure this summer when there are less viruses flying around (doctor's recommendation), it is supposedly the least serious congenital heart disease and the easiest to take care of, and there is very low risk of complications. Until then, nothing is going to happen to her, the only concern is that a few years down the road her heart will work harder and harder to circulate the blood if it isn't taken care of, because de-oxygenated blood will be by-passing the loop past the lungs and will get pumped back into the system. Its kinda like having your thermostat not open all the way, and having the water pump work extra hard to force enough coolant through to keep the engine cool.

(oh yeah! you like that analogy, don't you!)

Pretty much they are going to run a tube up her main artery in through her leg up into the heart and plug the valve that is stuck open. Should take 1-2 hours and she will be asleep the whole time, she should feel no pain. Which is very good.

I wanted to make it to this one, I forgot though :( Does the CU club ever do short drives after the meets?

not sure, I know the Euro Car meets do, there is one on the 31st, I know with the CUSCC meets they do go somewhere to eat so i guess there is a short (but probably spirited) drive to a place of purveyance of cheesy comestibles...
