Why did you go with the 3L instead of the 3.2? Do you have any idea what kinda power it's gonna put down?

3.2L crank doesn't like to rev above 7k.

Cept that for a 3.2 M20 you use the M52 crank. Occasionally S50 crank, but that needs wicked clearancing. Remember, the motor is bored AND stroked.

No S52 crank, so no similar max rpm worry.

Well, you could do it that way too... cheaper to use the S52 crank though.

...and this is based on what research?

Cept the S52 won't work for many reasons. The crank requires significant remachining of the block to get it to fit in there. The M52 does not, the S50 requires a bit of clearancing. The S52 crank has poor rod angle, such that the rods hit the bores in the M20. Fixing that isn't really feasible. Boring the block and getting the M52 crank to drop in is child's play for a machinist, as is S50 crank (+ tiny clearancing).

Most people (i.e. everyone) run the M52 crank with 86mm bores. Far cheaper than S52 crank since you have to bore and clearance the block anyway.

Cliffs: the S52 crank Does Not Work for this application. Metric Mechanic would use it otherwise for some wild 3.4L M20 strokers. But they don't because you can't.

---a guy who has looked into building a few different stroker M20s.
