I think bcausey was saying he's got 3 e30s that he might be willing to part with Mini.... -

Mistermini - Welcome to the club.
I am currently sitting on 3 e30s and would/should let one go -86,88, and 89
Let me know if you are coming up to the mountains anytime soon.Leave a comment:

if the m42 is done right and all the right parts which they are very pricey!!!! it could do 400+hp.. but if you build a eta bottom with an i head the right way it can do 300+hp easily.. proven many times..overall both engines are great(m42.. m20)Leave a comment:

I figure I will keep it in DS or something of the like until I turbo it. Then, I will just be in SM, but not competitive. Who knows.Leave a comment:

Yah, I figure there is no chance to be competitive in SM especially with Chris Mayfield driving that fucking insane evo. Have you seen the video of his national championship runs....you know the ones where he won SM!!!!!
That shit is insane!Leave a comment:

TCD uses old turbo tech, but uses ~14psi to get 300whp.haha, 400 whp + E30 = no chance of having a decent autocross car.
I kinda figured I could get 300 whp and have a car that is fully boosted by like 3k on a smaller turbo. Ideally it would be boosted enough to be fast as fuck, not boosted too much such that there is no chance to get traction at low speeds, and a small enough turbo to get boost FAST! I'm only thinking like 8 psi, but this is all from what I have read and researched. So, I might be way off.
Bottom line, its going to be a partial DD that kicks ass at autocross and possible track.
What you need for a good autox turbo M20 is a slight cam (schrick or VAC might have an M20 turbo cam), wiiiiiiiiide tires, and a good suspension setup.
400whp is totally doable, if you have the tires to put it down. Turboing an M20 bumps you into SM class at a minimum, so wide flares, 18x10s or 15x10s, 285/18 or 275/15, and a wicked suspension setup are needed to be competitive. M30 will be better power on boost, but heavier, so not a good SM motor. LS1 would be insane, and lighter than an M20 + turbo option......but you'd be in XP.
If you just want to have fun though.....don't worry about classing and just do what you want.Leave a comment:

M20s are more suited to turbos without any additional changes, much more so than M42s. Lower compression + more cylinders = more power/cylinder at the same boost levels.
That said, swap an M30 into an E30 and boost that....you'd be at 400whp on stock internals without any issue.Leave a comment:

I have future plans like a year after I get it to turbo it to about 300 whp. From what I have read the M20 is a decent engine for doing that. I'm not sure about the M42, but I am new to e30's so hey.Leave a comment:
