    fun roads/dirt roads/rally

So I have been wondering for a while now, where would I find some:

    a.) Sweet paved mountain roads
    b.) Sweet gravel mountain roads
c.) Awesome off-road (dirt/gravel) rally areas in general, not necessarily in the mountains.

Also, to create a sort of official "drive" thread where we can organize drives, specifically, the drive that was mentioned in another thread that may possibly happen this weekend.

I'll edit this post later as necessary to clear my own clutter, but I mentioned earlier that my buddy from Albuquerque coming up in his jeep, so are there any cool places to go this weekend for a snow rally? (snow on a dirt road in the mountains)

Perhaps we can organize our drive this weekend around this, it can also be a plain pavement drive, but it won't be as fun, as many of us are on winter wheels/tires that aren't optimal for dry pavement spirited driving.

looking to do something like this, but locally here, not in Albuquerque.

I can't think of much high speed gravel mountain roads. All the ones I have taken in my jeep are pretty steep and rocky.

Actually there was one. Rampart range road. It runs from south of littleton to CO Springs just in the foothills. The main road could possibly be used for road rally near the northern side. Just don't go on any of the side roads in a E30.

The drive between Bozeman Montana and the Bridger Bowl ski resort is about 20 miles of curvy paved mountain road. It's my favorite road and the best part is theres a 70 mph limit so you can really get some speed. It's worth a stop if you're passing bozeman on i90

edit: i didnt read that this was just for CO my bad

golden gate canyon has a dirt section through part of it

there are a few dirt roads up the boulder canyon, sugarloaf is the name of one iirc. Also some sweet roads out along I76 and such.

Oh yeah, I think there is a part that you don't have to pay park pass for. Plus the drive up is really awesome canyon driving on pavement.

Sam, you need to make it more clear what kind of road you're looking for and for what kind of driving.

4mile is mostly a residential canyon. Hooning there is irresponsible.

From your place I would go to Lyons, St. Vrain, Peak to Peak, Down dirt towards Jamestown, it turns to pavement and turns into Left Hang Canyon. The best part of Left hand is at the bottom anyway. 4 Mile is super straight when it turns to dirt, not much fun and many people...

With the snow coming tomorrow you should get your fill on any road!
                        JOY IS AN E30...

^ I've done that drive without the dirt section, and it's lots of fun. Left Hand and especially up to Estes is patrolled though, so be careful there.
