So hopefully this won't turn into a typical mountain thread...
I am just making sure I am not overlooking some type of car.
We decided to replace the Jeep with something else that is cheap. This way we don't have a car loan when we get a house later this year. After we get the house we will get the nice car, aka GTI. It is just smarter to not get another loan before the mortgage to hopefully keep our interest rate down on the house.
Here are the requirements
1. Reliable
2. AWD or full-time 4WD
3. ABS
4. Wagon or SUV style (fold flat rear seats)
5. Dirt cheap to maintain aka not BMW suspension where there are a ton of bushings that are all crappy.
6. Low maintenance (timing chains are great, no valve adjustments, etc)
So far I can only think of one car. Subaru outback wagon. There HAS to be more options. Please suggest any cars that you have had experience with that meet the bill. This is NOT supposed to be a fun car, just a good car that never lets us down.
Also, we will probably just trade our Jeep in, if someone wants a good car (that needs cooling attention) for just over trade in value please let me know, you can get it for cheap. Part time 4WD, no abs, command trac, 2000, 164k, auto, rear lift, tow hitch, front tow hooks, fog lights, custom sunroof that doesnt seal right, good headunit/infinity speakers, K&N intake kit, bored TB, TONS of engine service records, rancho shocks, aftermarket wheels, two sets of tires (winter/all season), 3 row radiator, electric fans. Say around 4k give or take.
