yea they have different lengths between the pivot ball and selector rod depending on what liter version. Longer the length shorter the throw. thanks though, howd it work out on your getrag?
I have a 1.9 with fresh bushings. I love it. I got it as a kit with the late style knuckle, OEM knob, and new bushing from eBay. Slightly notchy, but it's improved quite a bit as the bushings have broken in. Compared to the MZ3 knob in the Coupe it is less notchy and a slightly shorter throw. Straight forward installation too. You just need to bend the selector knob. You can drive mine if you want to test it before committing.
On the E36 it's all done from the bottom. If you're gonna do it, refresh the shift selector joint and the ball socket while you're in there. And don't forget to order a bitch clip to replace the one you break while removing the old stuff.
I dunno if the getrag is anything like the zf, but if it is you should throw in a selector shaft seal at the same time... Very common leak point.
You can drive mine if you want to test it before committing.
yeah I would love to try it to see how it will feel. My shifts are right now to long, and when under load, they hit the shift boot mount surface and drop out of gear.

I was actually going to try from the top on mine, but now I'm thinking I may be going from the bottom to swap out a starter thats on the verge of bad at the same time.

I should be back in town Monday otherwise I might be able to make it on thurs night. I don't thin you could do the 1.9 from the top because you have to remove the selector knob and replace the knuckle. Plus the shift selector seal is a must, along with all the bushings and rubber boot. Its not bad removing everything. Less than an hour once it's up on jack stands. I did my output shaft seal, but it didnt take.
