Which goes back to my original statement at the top. Yes my 35w kit beats sealed beams, but there's better lighting to be had, so I'm going after it.

lol yourself. I've never been happy with my dealings with DDM and the recent growing complaints of slipping product quality and quality control, etc. are enough to make me go elsewhere. So I did, and I chose a company / product that was already reviewed by a reputable member here.

Yeah, we all know about the lumen and color temp. The hard part is getting companys (DDM) to actually sell you the correct color temp you want!

Which has been their most recent problem, which is why I said people should be hesitant when ordering from them... I have no first hand experience yet, but I placed my order last night for the DDM alternative in the thread listed above.

Color temp aside, I have been very pleased with my DDMs. $55 and they work well. Same with my friends that have had them running for years with no issues. I can't complain too much about a slight off-temp. Sure beats the dangerous sealed beams.

I know it's not a retrofit, that's why I called it a "conversion". You know what I mean.

DDM's kit isn't a retrofit though. All it is are HID bulbs with cheap ballasts that can be used in non-HID housings. A full retrofit involves the projector itself, ballasts, wiring, bulbs.

As far as a better quality HID bulb kit, I don't know of any....hopefully Ben's is good so he can chime in once he gets them.

I know Jordan used TSX projectors behind the ellipsoid glass, so they looked stock but had ridiculously good lights behind em. Guys do it with E36s too

I mean't just like DDMs kit. Sure your bulbs are "only" 40 dollars more which is a large percent but it's not really compareable. Example: my friends Jeep GC has lights that are a good 3-4 times brighter than my E30's and he just has cheap walmart halogen bulbs that are about 10 dollars. I can't put that in my car though, lol, unless I want to bolt jeep lights to my car.

Besides the ebay company Ben ordered off of, I don't know of a place that sells "quality" HID conversions kit for me, just like DDM, just better.

I don't want to hack up ellipsoids unless the projectors look identical, they are too pretty stock.

retrofitsource.com or lightwerkz.net (or .com), but it'll be a custom job no matter what. Doable for sure though.

to put things in perspective, my Subaru's Philips D2S (for TSX projectors) bulbs are $95 for a pair on sale, OEM list is $194 each. I got em used, so that took some sting out, and there's no color issues with mine (it's an OEM bulb for many cars).

Anything is better than sealed beams though, they are awful.

Yep, which is why I got the HID's. Brighter then the $30 bulbs I tried first.

You get what you pay for. I don't get it really...$55 for a pair of HIDs and expect quality when a pair of quality halogen bulbs costs $30....come on, really?

Everyone should read this. Use a warmer color light, you will get more lumen output and it will not blind other drivers.

My cars may end up with selective yellow fogs and high beams.

Plus it looks awesome.
