You live in NM and own a jeep...so how is the off-roading down there? I'm going to be going to college down there and off-roading looks fun...

There's plenty of off-roading to be had... mostly desert type terrain, no mud or water. I spend most of my time racing through dried riverbeds, but there's plenty of rock crawling and sand hills to be had. And if you check out this thread, you'll see the top secret rally course my buddies and I discovered (where my sig pic was taken). PM me if you want directions to the good stuff.

Up the street from me was a large forest space that was fun to drive in (and probably illegal) until they closed it off. I've never really explored much around the state and with gas at 3.29 a gallon I don't think I will...I used to dirt bike quite a bit around here and that was fun. Also, I lived in Australia for 4 years (although I was young) and we drove across it in a 2000 turbo-diesel toyota prado and that was quite the experience.

There are hundreds of awesome off-roading trails in Colorado. But you are right, you get about 5mpg, lol.

I agree, I should have said I want to keep my e30 on the pavement. And I want an old Range Rover anyway. there are too many trails near my house to not have a 4x4.

No, washboarding wasn't a problem on the track at all. It seems washboard doesn't form when you are spinning tires 100% of the time.

Usually washboard free but large ruts do develop.

I kind of want to keep the e30 on pavement. So I was wondering if any of you seen any older land rovers at these events?

I was thinking a beat up 89-92 range rover would be good because they're pretty cheap, AWD, coil sprung, and damn near indestructible. And the sound of an aluminum V8 at 5-6k doesn't hurt either.

I have seen them run these in MDR/SCORE offroad racing. A friend of mine was a tech at a dealer in anaheim,ca and they had a 90 RR sponsored by that dealer.
