      David, couldn't hurt to replace the filter, if I remember right the thing looks like hell. Replace your plugs, all of $10 if that, and maybe think about the rest of the ignition system. OBD 1 chip shouldn't be changing at all, just "learning" the car after reconnecting the battery, which would happen right away...

        Chip won't clear itself like that. Check fuses, connnections, etc.

        Ignition system on our cars doesn't steadily go bad like it would be on yours. The only issues he could really have there would be coil packs or plugs.

        I made some recommendations in a thread on M3F, no idea if David's tried them yet.
